Why am I joining Urban Company?
A better question.

Over the last few weeks, a lot of you have asked me, “Why am I leaving Zomato?”. And, a few of you already have some hilarious assumptions, for eg. I wanted to move to Goa so I quit Zomato or better I am making Design memes full time, however enticing both options seem, but no!
Though the better question to ask is “Why am I joining Urban Company?”
In the past 2 years at Zomato, I have got the chance to work on some of the most impactful products, and with smartest people in the product and tech industry. Zomato in true sense has brought out the best in me.
At Z, I contributed in building some of the most impactful products for our consumers and partners. It has been a really fulfilling experience for me. And I am sure the team at Z is capable of doing great stuff for decades to come under Deepi’s Leadership.
So, then the question comes why did I quit? But before that let me tell you I am starting at Urban Company as a Senior Product Designer, where I will be working on International products (How do we build from India for the world?)
So, the question I asked myself was Why should I join UC?
* New challenges in a new industry, new demographics and with new teammates.
* Designing for scale & complexity (although, have fair share of experience of doing it over and over at Zomato).
* Building products for extreme trust.
* An opportunity to build and grow the team.
* Learn while being uncomfortable.
* Get valuable mentorship and also a chance to mentor great talent.
In summary, I would experience a whole new industry, contribute to its growth and will have a chance to build a superb services platform.
Zomato has been a great experience for me, and the people there are family. Who have my best interest at heart.
At Zomato, Thanks to Deepi, GG, RG, PG, UG, Aman, Vijay, Aakarshna, Ananya, Rajeesh, Shoaib, The Design Team, Sameep, Jahnvi, Riddhi, Tanya, Karan, Jhashank, Sankalp, Gaurav, and Nakul.
